Someday things will be perfect

Friday was almost perfect. I felt like the luckiest fangirl in the world really. Got to have my own personal time twice with my favourite band and it really didn't matter that for the second time I had to wait for them till 4am. I'm not going to write a whole fan account about my encounter with the boys because it'd be a freaking essay, and some things are better just kept in my head.

Their set at the ION Fashion Concert was really amazing. I cried again ok. Haha! Acoustic versions are totally their thing. And what a bonus when Martin sang snippets of some demos and songs never performed before. Super cool.

Paul stop it omg.

Didn't manage to get a pick during their gig itself but the guitar tech was being really nice and I got one from him.

Morgan gives great hugs. No picture with John at their hotel because of.. circumstances that I should probably keep to myself. HAHA.

The next three consecutive weekends will be occupied with S.H.E, JJ Lin and MBC Korean Music Wave. So busy. Hahaha!

Into Your Arms

Sorry to all who have been putting up with my tweets and Instagram posts of The Maine for the past few days. This will be my last one in a while, I swear.

It was amazing getting to meet all of them up-close and finally listen to them perform live. I miss them so much already, but it's really Kennedy who I'm gonna miss most.

I won't forget the hilarious moment at the airport when your luggage sticker came off your bag and got stuck on the front of your jeans. And how embarrassed you looked when I told you. Hahahaha.

I won't forget the interview we had where you, Jared and Garrett answered every single question so thoughtfully and sincerely.

I won't forget the signing, where you hugged me without me asking, while saying, "It was a great interview we had, please take care." And then you looked at me with that sad smile of yours which made me feel like crying. All the while ignoring the security guard who was rushing me off. Lololol.

Glad you had a wonderful first show and birthday in Singapore. I hope to see you and the boys again. Less than 7 years, you guys promised.

"I'm falling in love
But it's falling apart
I need to find my way back to the start
When we were in love
Things were better than they are
Let me back into...
Into your arms."

LOL I sound like a lovesick fangirl but I have a lot of feels... This is quite embarrassing okay bye.

Go For Gold!

Ah, my first music event (almost) of the year - Kyle Patrick's autograph session! This was my third time seeing him - and they were all up-close. Pretty cool to see him again - and man is he getting more handsome as time goes by!

How sweet of him to stand up to greet the children! Aww!

Autographed KP album and poster - thank you Yiyun for helping get the poster signed! The pick was given to me by 987FM's Divian after I had to sing a small part of 'Go For Gold' LOL.

Me and Divian with 1/4 of his head cut off because Yiyun is an amazing photographer.

Met up with a few of them from the Poly bunch (or TWEEPS as we call ourselves now) for dinner after that. The Handburger + dessert and ice cream from The Cafe Cartel at 50% + casual banter = great night.

Can't believe there's only less than a month left till 'em Perth people leave! My poor heart... But I'm really looking forward to 26th Jan. Gonna be the most epic party yet.

A Phone Call From Jedward

So earlier this evening, I got a phone call from Irish pop duo, Jedward, thanks to Bryan, who was covering the #913FoodTrail! You may know them as the twins from 2009's The X Factor.

They are known for their enthusiastic performances on stage and it appears that it is no different from their off-stage persona. Their interaction with the Singaporean fans has been more than sincere and amazing!

Anyway, it was so unreal talking to them on the phone. The slightly-under-five-minutes call was basically them talking almost the whole way and me just being stunned and sounding like an idiot. I recorded the call but I am obviously not going to post it anywhere for everyone's sanity.

Their accents were really really thick and I could not understand half of the things they said so I really hope that they did not blame me for my very unsure responses. Anyway, here's what I managed to make out:

Edward was first on the line and he greeted me really cheerily, "Hi Michelle this is Edward from Jedward!" and I just went like "oh my god hi Edward" and "welcome to Singapore", you know, the typical kind of things you'd say to an artiste. Then he immediately started talking about how he loved the food in Singapore, how they weren't oily (what?), and the rest.. I couldn't understand. He really went on and on by the way, like a machine gun. Haha. We then talked a little about their time in Singapore so far, and how long they were going to stay, and the autograph session.

He then asked John to say hi to me and he greeted me with the same level of enthusiasm as Edward did. And he suddenly started singing, "Wow. Fantastic Baby! Dance! Woo-ooh!" I was definitely surprised by that. Breaking out into a Big Bang song was something I would not have expected them to do (I found out from Bryan later on that they were already singing it before they called me, and that they grabbed a copy of Teenage, which had Big Bang on the cover).

He then asked me where I was (I replied that I was in school) and why I was still in school at 6pm. I told them about band practice and that I was a French hornist and John (I think?) went, "Cool, that's really cool, I mean like really really cool, cool." Lol something like that. We then talked about their single, Young Love, before he went like, "we really need to see you, Michelle." LOL yeah I know it's fan service, but it sure made me feel warm inside.

They had to go after that and so that concluded my phone call with Jedward. It was short, but great. Unfortunately, I'm the kind of person who isn't able to hold conversations on the phone so there were a few awkward silences here and there but Jedward always managed to break it. They showed that they loved their fans, and that they are still down-to-earth young boys despite their platinum albums. They will be in Singapore till Thursday, and I do actually hope to catch them.

Till then, I'll just continue grooving out to my favourite song from them - Young Love. Do check it out if you haven't!

Whatever Weather

I know the last couple of posts have been about Boys Like Girls but please bear with me for this post, and the next.

So today was just.. for lack of better word, awesome. And mind you, it was not just because I finally got the chance to meet my all-time favourite band, Boys Like Girls, up close. Although it was definitely the highlight of the day.

Albeit the nerve-wrecking morning and me stressing over their flight arrival from KL, Boys Like Girls did eventually appear to the delight of the 15-odd fans waiting for them. Absolutely no one screamed at all and it was so calm and relaxed. Seriously I love the BLG fandom here. Hahaha!

Paul came out first and being his biggest fan in the entire world, I came in front of him first and greeted him (Stef said I was being shy HAHA) and he looked right back at me and asked how I was doing and remarked, "Nice shirt". Of course, Paul, of course you'd call a tee from your clothing line 'nice'. Cue a little small talk and getting him to sign my albums, we talked a little about the Be Your Everything lyric video and the laser tag game that they played in KL the day before. It was so hard to think straight though. He had this permanent smile plastered to his face while I was just standing there craning my neck up trying really hard not to stammer. Gonna stop here abruptly because I could go on and on. Lol.

He is so tall! Either that or I'm really short. Or both.

Anyway, we approached John next and he signed my albums as well, which he passed to Martin. After Martin finished signing, I took my albums back but he continued staring at me with those beautiful blue eyes of his and I was confused for a moment until I realised he was still holding on to my marker cap. How embarrassing LOL. I didn't talk to him much though because I thought he looked really tired and because he intimidated me a little. He was just so... cool. Haha.

He must have had to bend down a lot. I like his star tattoo a lot by the way!

We went to find John yet again to take pictures. After Stef helped me with that, John asked if he could see the picture and he had to approve it. Haha what a funny little (literally) man he is.

For once I felt tall standing next to a band guy LOL.

Last but not least was Morgan, who officially joined the band a couple of months ago. He was absolutely loving the attention showered on him by the fans. I greeted him and he asked for my name which he then greeted me by. I'd have talked to him a little more if they didn't have to leave.

Doesn't he look a little like Robert Downey Jr??

Didn't get Morgan to sign them since I felt that he might feel weird because he wasn't even in the albums!

Yeah I know one whole paragraph for Paul and a couple of lines for the rest hahaha I'm biased like that! Looking forward to their set at the STAR Concert!!

We then rushed off to meet the Poly bunch for lunch at Ah Loy Thai at Shaw Tower. The food was really awesome although we ordered a little too much. We also celebrated an early 20th for Deanna!

Really happy with her presents apparently!

 With Rach and Keith!

After that, all of us except Jon, Eden and Deanna went to Daiso and wrecked havoc. Hahaha seriously that place is really like a playground for us.

Met my parents and my uncle's family for dinner at Kallang Leisurepark's Thai Village and damn that was one of the best dinners I have had in a while (although I was quite distraught at first because I thought that I was going to eat Thai food again but thankfully, despite the name of the restaurant, it was nothing like a typical Thai restaurant). The restaurant's signature dish was Claypot Shark's Fin and that was exactly what each of us had.

Oh god I was in heaven for around 30 mins while eating this. Definitely the best shark's fin soup I have had - and the portion was... woah! I reckon that the price is pretty steep though. But seriously this is some solid soup with big portions of meat. Ahh I'm already getting hungry just thinking about it! The side dishes that were ordered were freaking delicious as well oh my someone bring me back here again please!

Hahahaha I seem to be spazzing more about the food than about BLG! How typical.

Long day ahead, I'd better crash now. Good night! x

Boyz Nite Out After Party

No matter which fandom one belongs in, being able to meet artistes in the industry is definitely one of the best things that could happen. So, when I found out that I won tickets from Radio 1003 to the Boyz Nite Out After Party at KU DÉ TA Club Lounge, I was pleasantly surprised and saying that I was excited was definitely an understatement.

Since I won a pair of tickets, I got Stef to go with me.

*For those who do not know, all the artistes were supposed to attend the after party but Teen Top and SHINee had to leave right after the concert. B1A4 did not go as well – probably because they were too tired to.*

Upon reaching the club, we were served drinks (something else that I was pleasantly surprised at) which we gladly accepted. However, after what seemed like eternity, none of the artistes seemed to be arriving so we went onto the dance floor to relieve ourselves of boredom. Why not, right?

After hitting the dance floor for an hour or so, I noticed four really tall guys walking into the club and I kind of wondered if they were members of rookie group, 7.9.4.2. I could not confirm, of course, since I did not go for the concert and although I did watch one of their Music Bank performances… let’s just say that they looked really different without make-up – still handsome nonetheless!

It apparently took a while for the fact that there were K-Pop idols standing just a few feet away to sink in to the other contest winners as well. Of course, it was not long before camera flashes and requests to take photos with the four extremely tall men filled our area. I managed to snap a couple of pictures and helped Stef take a picture with Jo Hun and Haeng Hun before security took them away to the ‘Members’ section of the club. Everyone was naturally confused and all of us were thinking the exact same thing: “Is that all?”

Jong Hyun partying hard LOL.

Are those couple rings or something?

Our worries were unfounded though when the staff assured us that they will definitely let us meet them up close. We were eventually brought into a really nice and quiet room and we took turns to interact with the artistes in pairs. It was the most peaceful meet and greet that I have ever seen and everyone was relaxed (or so like it seemed).

7.9.4.2 were first and they came in with bright smiles on their faces, greeting and bowing to everyone in the room before settling down to get ready for the meet-and-greet session. They were really polite – standing up from their seats to greet every pair with warm handshakes and genuine smiles. I decided to greet them in Korean (it is only normal, no?) and that earned me a “woah” from them. It amused me further when Jo Hun asked me where I was from. They were obviously not the most fluent in English, but their attempts were commendable!

After taking a couple of photos with them, each of them initiated hugs with us which made us really happy, of course. I told Jong Hyun that he looked really handsome, to which he replied enthusiastically, “Oh! Thank you!” I was really startled when Eung Joo stood in front of me because he was really towering over me. I unintentionally muttered that he was really tall and all he did was smile back and snicker bemusedly. It really was a short but good few minutes with them, albeit the fact that we did not ask for autographs. We really should have.

Haeng Hun saying bye.

Anyway, Jay Park was brought into the room next and of course we had no problem conversing with him. A fan greeted him with a “good morning” only to have him reply jokingly, “What? Morning? Are you drunk?” which ended up with fans retorting that it was indeed morning since it was already past 12am. It felt like we were hanging out with a friend instead of a Star (oh see what I did there?) whose album peaked at number 4 on the Billboard World Album charts.

Jay turning back perpetually to accede to fans' requests to take photos of him. And if the camera used had flash, he'd whine about how it hurt his eyes. Hahaha!

This time, I made sure that we got autographs so immediately after taking our photos, I asked him if he could sign for us and he got down to it after he answered, “of course” in his oh-so-sexy accent. He was really nice to greet us again by our names after we introduced ourselves. God knows why we did not do that in the beginning. Not that it mattered though.

Once the last pair’s turn was over, Jay turned back and said his last goodbyes, and sportingly posed for photos for a couple of seconds before going back to where he came from, no doubt for more partying.

It was a tad disappointing that B1A4 was not present because everyone had expected them to be there. I even brought my ‘Ignition’ album there in hopes that they could sign it. I also kind of prepared stuff to say to Baro… *inserts relevant meme*

Nevertheless, it was definitely an experience to remember and I’d like to extend my thanks to Radio 1003 for the opportunity and KU DÉ TA for the warm treatment and for organising the after party for the fans.

Please do not take out photos/edit without permission. Photos with artistes courtesy of KU DÉ TA Singapore.

More Than This

On the 5th of May, I attended the first ever YouTube Stars concert in the world - The YouTube Stars Festival at the Coliseum thanks to Jonathan!

We reached at around 2pm (which is really late in my books) for the 7pm concert and we managed to beat the crowd to be one of the first few groups in the queue. Yay!

Lihua, Yizhun and Aaron joined us later then Jonathan and I went to walk around to listen to the soundcheck and we unintentionally came across the area where the artistes would walk past after their soundcheck so we waited there and we managed to get pictures with Joseph Vincent and David Choi!

Awkward picture is awkward lol.

So when we got into the venue we managed to be in the second row which was great!

While waiting for the concert to start!

I'm not gonna do a concert review because I'm kinda lazy so I'm just gonna post some pictures that I took during the concert.

The opening act: Tzire and SammyDee

Clarence Liew aka CLO! His voice is amazing!

Tiffany Alvord! She is as sweet as she looks really. :)

Joseph Vincent! He is a very good entertainer!

Jason Chen. He was kind of shy hahaha

Joint stage :)

Ana Free. She is one hot woman.

David Choi. A pity I didn't enjoy his set that much as he sang originals and I don't know his originals.

Encore!

It was a great concert - and we were assured that this would not be the last. I am really excited to see which artistes will come down next year!

In other news, Boys Like Girls performed a acoustic rendition of their upcoming single recently.

This brought me close to tears I'm not even kidding. Can they please come back now?

My flight to Korea is in about 4 hours. It is really exciting to be honest! And so before I leave Blogger for a good 8 days, I leave you with a cover I just did - U-Kiss' DoraDora.

Take care, everyone! :)
