août

I'm not a very dedicated blogger, am I? Haha. But then again this shows that I've been keeping myself occupied and having a life... except the past week where I finished the whole 'Saints Row 3' and played 'Sims 3' till I got bored.

Last month, I finished my stint at omy.sg and while I won't get all sentimental, I gotta say that everyone was really really nice and I do hope to meet them again. On my last day, it was also another colleague's last day there and one of them bought cupcakes. T_T

Also, thank you boss for the buffet dinner.

Met up with my TP French horns after a really long time of not seeing them because Caiyu's band was performing and she invited us. It wasn't full attendance, but we had fun nonetheless. I think Caiyu had the most fun from introducing 'deejaymich' as a 'special guest' and embarrassing me to no end.

Our duet was unrehearsed and totally spontaneous okay. Sorry for cropping the rest of the band mates out. Do check The Young Folks out on their Facebook page here. They're really dope so do catch them at Bistro@Changi on Friday nights. That place has a great atmosphere too!

Finally made my way to the Tim Ho Wan here with the remaining TWEEPS, and it also happened to be Nava's virgin dimsum meal! I'm glad her first was here, because even though Hong Kong's was better, it is still one of the better dimsum restaurants in Singapore.

A month's not made for me till I catch a gig. This month's were B.A.P's Live on Earth Singapore concert and 987FM's All Access with Before You Exit.

Okay - unpopular opinion time - I wasn't overly impressed with the former unfortunately. It could have been how far I was away from the stage, but they seemed kind of lethargic, which was pretty sad because their choreography has always wow-ed me. I just wasn't feeling it that day - they were probably tired from preparation of their 'Badman' comeback. But I will forever be in awe of how Daehyun can hit every single note so perfectly throughout the whole concert.

P.S. Check out the pics I shot for Dinoseoul during the first three songs when I was a hundred times nearer here.

On the other hand, Before You Exit really impressed me. Their harmonies were spot on. I really enjoyed their songs, but not so much the whole experience because of inconsiderate fans urgh. Anyways, here's an acoustic performance of my favourite song from them. Go check their cover of Bruno Mars' When I Was Your Man. You will not be disappointed.

And... is it any surprise that I have a favourite already? Sigh Connor (the one on the right in the video). Hahaha.

Jon, Yiyun and I waiting to go into the venue; Me being me; Pretty sky.

Till next time! xx

You Rock My World

This is way overdue but the TWEEPS were reunited on Brenda's 21st birthday celebration, and I couldn't have been happier to have everyone back at one place. I met a couple of the Perth kids prior to that, but nothing can compare to when all of us are together.

When Deanna came back!

Mel where are you

A day out with these people is always the best. And as time quickly flies by I am dreading the day they fly back to Perth even more than I did when they first left. Why isn't Down Under literally just down under? :(

Also, as some of you may know, I'm currently holding a temporary job at Omy.sg. But my stint there is gonna end soon and I'm kinda upset even though it's only two months because everyone there has been soooooo nice.

Goodbyes, why do you exist?

The Liebster Award

Back with a proper post because Rachel nominated me for The Liebster Award (which I had no knowledge of till today) and I will do anything she says because she's awesome. So I uh, basically copied and pasted the rules from Rach's blog:

- List 11 random facts about yourself.
- Answer the questions designated by the blogger(s) who nominated you.
- Place YOUR nominations for the Liebster Award!
- Nominate five (or more) other bloggers that have less than 200 followers. Make sure to notify them via - comment/email, etc.
- Make up a set of questions for those nominated bloggers to answer.
- Display the Liebster award badge on your blog!

Aight, let's get this ball rollin'!

11 random facts about myself:

(I'm a pretty boring person and I've probably talked about most, if not all of these before, but do read on.)

1. Let's start with the obvious, shall we? I'm absolutely crazy about music and seriously it's a wonder that I didn't take any music-related courses. I would consider myself a jack of all trades, master of none. I guess it's because I know feel like I'll never make it in the music industry anyway, so I don't really bother upgrading my skills with regards to the instruments I know how to play already. It's kinda sad, yes, but I guess I do have one saving grace - I think I sing better than average and I really take pride in my YouTube channel. Not sure why I don't take the simple and conventional way of blasting the original song and just singing along to it using just a camera to record. I guess it's the passion. I really want my covers to be the best in quality as possible and I don't mind if I have to take a few days or work into the night to edit them or re-record parts that sound even slightly off. And ah, I especially love singing with Rachel because our voices blend really nicely together and I think we make a great duo because she makes up for my inability to reach high notes! :)

2. I am very OCD about neatness and cleanliness. I can't help but cringe when people do not wash their hands after touching food and they use their phones right after that, or even worse, touch my stuff. I might look indifferent but I am actually screaming in agony inside. The contents in my bag always have to be at the right places and compartments and I have a shitload of files to store all my documents. My computer and hard disk are filled with folders and sub-folders to categorize my stuff. Every single track in my iTunes have to have almost complete information (i.e. album, year, genre) and album art. I also have a scheduler that I depend heavily on. It consists of literally everything that I care about in my life - appointments, birthdays, album release dates, concerts, deadlines, you name it. It also has cute stickers and random (but neat) doodles inside. So if you're a messy person, I'm sorry but I don't think we can be roommates... It's for both of our own good, really.

3. I'm not particularly proud of my concert spendings, but I love going to gigs... and meeting artistes... and bringing home stuff from the gigs. /cough/

4. I majored in Broadcast in Poly, but I really like writing as well, though it's really hard for me to start. But most of the time, once I start, all the words just start flowing out. Writing for Dinoseoul has been a pleasure so far - what more the topic being something that I really like?

5. I like dancing too - especially to R&B songs. Love the slick moves. But I have no confidence in that field because my friends around me dance so much better. Haha uh well. : |

6. Food is my life. I'm also known as chicken monster by some of my friends and I gladly accept it. Seriously, I don't know how I can eat so much. I think the only reason why I'm not overweight yet is because I don't snack. Hahaha. But I'm also very picky with my food - I don't eat raw food (i.e. salad and sashimi), meat that's too fatty, the yolk in sunny side-ups, internal organs, anything that's too milky... and I hate Parmesan cheese. Bleargh.

7. I read fanfics. I especially love the Taemich ones that Keith writes. It has been stuck at Chapter 4 and currently Taemin and I have been singing 'Thunder' together at his balcony for almost a year now but I wouldn't have it any other way. (But seriously Keith... more please.)

8. Friends mean the world to me but I'm very selective at the same time because I've had a couple of bad experiences which led to me having trust issues. So if I do confide in you, you must be one heck of a special person.

9. I'm a very sentimental person. I prefer receiving personalized gifts than expensive ones (of course unless you're willing to build a home recording studio for me hahaha). All my letters are kept nicely and categorized neatly according to my different groups of friends.

10. I used to have abs but Poly took them all away... or rather they got covered. LOL.

11. Sometimes when I listen to sad songs I pretend that I'm in a music video and create scenarios in my head and act all emotional and I end up crying. Ahhh this is so embarrassing. OK MOVING ON.

Here are Rach's questions:

1. What is one extreme thing you’d like to do, but don’t have the guts to?
I've always wanted to perform on a huge huge stage but that's because I never got a chance. So I think I'll go with skydiving. As I get older, I get more and more timid and that sucks so I wanna do something that makes me feel like I can conquer anything else after completing it. That's extreme enough... right?

2. What was your last indulgent purchase?
Sadly everything slightly costly (even food) that I spend on now can be considered an indulgent purchase because I am so, so broke. But recently I paid 6 bucks for a glass of coke at the Beer Market because I wanted to watch the Australian bands perform there during Music Matters. Rawr. Not cool.

3. Name five items currently in your bag that you can’t leave your house without.
There're more than five because of my inner auntie but wallet, earpieces, comb, portable charger, scheduler (my phone and iTouch are not counted because they're in my pockets most of the time).

4. What’s your most played song on iTunes, ever?
Currently it's C-Clown's 'Shaking Heart' at 167 plays (What?! It came out barely two months ago!!). But that's an unfair result because my iTunes has reformatted on me four times this year already. According to my previous iTunes plays it'd probably be Boys Like Girls' 'Thunder' or Faber Drive's 'When I'm With You', my two ultimate favourite songs. Yup, I love K-pop but I'm still loyal to my pop punk roots.

5. How would you describe your style, and who are your current fashion influences?
I'm no fashionista, that's for sure. But I'd say preppy - y'all should see my ever-growing collection of bright coloured berms and jeans. I don't have any fashion influences... or to put it in a corny way, I define my own fashion! Hahaha!

Okay so I don't have another nomination because everyone that I know who blogs has already been nominated by Rachel. If this was 2005 I'd have been spoilt for choice. So uhm, no nominations, no questions. Okay? Okay.

To those who are doing this, have fun! :)

Chasing Relentlessly

Down to the last week of school! Kinda, plus two days. But I'm so glad that there are no final exams this semester. And I can't be more stoked about all the music events coming up. Can't wait to do all my covers which I have been stalling because of school. And the Perth kids are coming back next month!

EXCITED.

Anyway, I did a cover of Zedd's 'Clarity' with the talented Aaron so check it out! It was such a difficult song to sing.

Più Che L'Amore

IMG-20130420-WA0010
Più che l’amore means 'More Than Love'. Classy film title hahahahaha.

Just about three weeks to the end of my first year in Chapman University and it is getting more and more hectic but yet I seem to be losing steam. Why can't I just sing all day?

Anyway, I had a night shoot till about 5am and I directed a short film for the first time and boy am I a horrible one at that. And that wasn't including the fact that I was upset I had to miss covering the U-KISS concert and press conference for the shoot. Now I have no doubt that I was made to listen to instructions and accomplish jobs in that way. Nevertheless, it was a great experience and I'm so thankful for my wonderful crew and group mates. Our cast, Sijia and Silver, were also very cooperative and fun to have on set. I'd be lying if I said I am not excited to see the final product.

The cast and crew of Più Che L'Amore!

Will not post anymore in case I'm not supposed to. LOL.

Anyway, big thanks to Yiyun to offer me a place to crash after that. She even cooked noodles for me. So sweet I don't even.

So cute too.

Deadlines are pouring in like crazy and I feel as if my life is eaten sucked away as the days go by. I just want to work on my covers sobs.

In other news, I am so so addicted to C-Clown's latest single (unf T.K, Rome and Kangjun) 'Shaking Heart' and Sam Tsui's cover of 'Clarity', originally by Zedd. The former is so smooth and sleek and the latter is just uplifting. Oh all these awesome music. I can't.

"Don't speak as I try to leave
Cause we both know what we'll choose
If you pull, then I'll push too deep
And I'll fall right back to you

Cuz you are the piece of me I wish I didn't need
Chasing relentlessly, I still fight and I don't know why

If our love is tragedy why are you my remedy?
If our love's insanity why are you my clarity?"

Maybe Tonight

Because I haven't updated this space in more than a month. And because assignments suck.
Just a round-up of February so far. I was also quite happy this month because I got to use my 650D a lot. Hehe.

1) Sent my friends off to Perth (cue obligatory sentence on how much I'm missing them).
2) Had a great CNY.
3) Covered Kim Jong Kook's Fan meet for Dinoseoul.
4) Went for The Summer State's EP Launch (+ getting to see Trick for the third time + having a nice talk with one of the members, Marc + seeing Harold there and catching up with him).
5) SHINee made their comeback and I absolutely love it.
6) I broke 950 subscribers on YouTube. Yay!

I've got so much of shit due this week it's not even funny. On another note, I absolutely can't wait to do the filming for my group's first production in Chapman! Being Director of Photography is quite stressful though. Ahh. I shall do a proper update after all my assignments are over (before Hong Kong, hopefully)!

Ending off this post with some photos from the CNY period. Have a good last three days of February y'all!

Haiyo my Kaelyn ah why so cute?!

Full maternal family photo. The adults were all so excited about my camera I don't even. Lol.

Female cousins on the paternal side.

Hehehe.

At Nigel's housewarming.

Okay, back to work. Sobs.

First Blogpost of 2013

I know, such a boring title but it is the most apt. I'd really like to do a 2012 round-up but I'm so lazy and it's already too late for one (lol excuses). Anyway, 2013 has been pretty awesome so far. And it looks to be even more exciting. I'm going to meet Kyle Patrick on Saturday hehe. I've got mixed feelings about February because I will be sending off and not seeing five awesome people in a very long time. /BAWLS/
However, I'm especially looking forward to March - All Time Low and The Script gigs and Hong Kong with them Chapmanites! Wahhh.

I'll be back soon - hopefully to write a bit on my latest Korea trip. I realised I didn't even talk about my trip to Seoul in May. Tsktsk Michy.

By the way, isn't just Infinite-H one of the best things to happen in Infinite, ever? Hot damn Dongwoo. How do you look so good in pink hair?!

Also, it's good to see you smiling again, Cristiano :)

Induction

Today was my first day aka induction day at Chapman University and thankfully it turned out okay despite all my first-day uncertainties - from meeting my senior from secondary school, mixing around with those from other Polytechnics (only four of us hail from Temasek Polytechnic), to getting to talk to the lecturers a little. Of course I was really glad that Clarissa was with me.

I have been watching To The Beautiful You (which is the Korean remake of Hana Kimi) and I can't help but make comparisons to the Taiwanese remake of the same series, which happens to be one of my favourite dramas... taking away the fact that I love Ella and Wuzun.
The Korean remake has definitely been moving at a much faster rate then the Taiwanese one, with a few differences here and there in the plot. I absolutely love HyunWoo in there but besides that, I feel that the rest of the characters are kinda weak - in the sense that they do not exactly portray their personalities very well. The Taiwanese version though, which I have just started watching again, for the gazillionth time, has actors that pull off their characters perfectly and everyone is really distinct in their own way.
One thing is the same in both though - both males leads are not the best actors... Hahahaha am I stating the obvious?

Anyway, I am feeling so sleepy now it is unbelievable. May I survive through the arduous journey to and from school four days a week. Goodnight!

Maybe

Maybe I should just stop being nice. It seems like nicer people are always on the losing end.
Being nice lets you make friends, right? But there is no guarantee that they will be there every time even though you just continue to help them, or spoil them.. or whatever.
I like being nice to people.. It is just in my nature. But I'm just tired of it - tired of being taken advantage of, tired of being taken for granted. And sometimes it just...breaks me to realise that I don't mean as much to others as much as they mean to me. I don't expect anything in return... Not materialistic needs, at least.

I just feel like it is not worth it anymore. Because one day, you will be gone. Because one day, we will not be friends anymore.

Because one day, you will forget me.

La La La

This is gonna be a random post thus the random title.

I was just fiddling around with the 'Analytics'  function on YouTube which you can find if you go to your channel, and I felt really humbled by what I saw.

Around 4 months ago, I remember another user from YouTube telling me that I should start putting up videos showing myself singing. So I decided to give it a go and the first cover that I did that was my cover of Big Bang's Blue and I continued doing the same for my subsequent covers till now.

So as of 1st March (the day I uploaded by Blue cover) till now, I gained 148 subscribers, 700 'likes', and 46k+ views on my videos and I couldn't be anymore thankful. I'm just really glad that there are more viewers - every view, like, comment really makes my day and makes me more motivated to make more covers. So thank you to all and to my subscribers and friends who do listen to my covers as well!

Yeah see it was really a random post! Goodnight!!

Too Fast

Realised that Graduation is technically tomorrow. And I don't really know what to think or feel of it. Have had a lot on my mind recently ever since I came back from Seoul. Not that anything has happened - but the thought of some things happening upsets me a lot.

Been pouring out everything to Yiyun - I'm glad she's willing to hear me out and not find me an irritating bugger. Hahaha she's a kind monster.

A real update soon! Goodnight.

I cried like three times today.

So uncool.

Keep It Real

Just ended my 6-day stint at the Singapore Conference Hall as part of the crew managing the Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging for Primary Schools. I definitely had fun with Jon and Yiyun and the new friends we made.

Lol we look like we're on a rollercoaster.

Omg full of derp.

Too bored.

My favourite pokemon hehe

We're gonna watch The Avengers next week and I can't wait to meet this group of awesome people again. And of course I can't wait for the movie.

I can already tell that it's gonna be epic from this illustration.

Speaking of epic, B.A.P has just released their new music video, 'Power'.

It's really amazing how they have only released two single albums and they already have established their own sound. This song really feels like a 'Warrior' Part 2 with all the heavy beats, guitar riffs, and the alarm sounds in the background. The spray paint dance break in this song is genius! I can't wait for their comeback stage.

And here's another recently released song, 不敗, by Vanness Wu and 2PM's Junho.

I really like the sound of it. And Junho sounds really good singing Mandarin! I still remember when Vanness was part of F4 really long ago and he was my favourite member. Still is, now.

Two days to TP Alumni Band's concert and I'm really nervous for the Persis solo. Bleah.

Goodnight!

Satisfaction

This is probably my favourite Jap song from FT Island sigh I wish I get to see them perform this why did they not perform this for their concert in Singapore? /cries a river

Anyway, I spent almost the whole of last week working for SYF Central Judging for Primary School Bands at the Singapore Conference Hall with Jon and Yiyun. Although I was separated from them I pretty much enjoyed my job - I hardly had to do anything! And since I was inside the concert hall itself I got to listen to all 80 bands perform. I got to say that some of them really awed me because I didn't think primary school bands were able to play at that standard! The most memorable band for me has got to be Yishun Primary School's. They were unbelievable, like really.

One of the adjudicator's kept eating the Mentos we provided - like 9 in 1.5 hours! Omg sugar overload.

Hahahaha defensive shit.

Had dinner with Jon, Yiyun and Stef on the last day. This was dessert and this makes me really really happy.

TP Band Concert's coming soon and I'm pretty nervous and I just hope I'll do fine on the day itself. Practice has actually been really fun - it's definitely the company.

With Caiyu and Lihua. There's Jasmin and Nigel in the French horn section too and it's great since I already knew them pretty well before this alumni band thing.

But what I REALLY can't wait for is Seoul! It is less than one month away oh gosh where did the countdown '93 days to go' run to? Planning the itinerary with Stef this coming Wednesday and I still don't know where I wanna go to except for Lotte World. Sigh I love theme parks.

Can't wait to try all the rides that I didn't get to try the last time round I went there (which is everything minus the Sinbad ride and the infamous carousel from the Korean drama 'Stairway to Heaven')...alone.

I'mma conquer all you hardcore rides!!! Okay maybe not all, heh.
