TKBand SYF 2010

A very eventful day indeed. I woke up at 7plus to start heading to TK. I was so sleepy omg lol. Upon reaching TK, talked with my juniors for awhile then started heading to Indoor Stadium in Bong's car to put up the TKBand banner and also to reserve seats at the stadium. The banner was freaking big -.-
Anyway, reached South Entrance at 10plus, which is freaking early considering that the doors open at 1.30pm -.- Was with The Banner Team - Vanessa, Ian, Chinkiat, Gabriel and of course me. Obviously, we started camwhoring and gossiping and what not uh. The damn interesting part when came the doors opened and everyone just CHIONGED into the stadium I SWEAR IT WAS FREAKING FUN HAHAHA. Put up the banner then after getting our seats and getting alumni and TK people to sit together, then a few of us went out to give out tix to the rest. At the same time, we went down to see our juniors.

Took a few pics with them and talked to them, one last time before I would see them again when the results were released. That time which all of us didn't want to pass ended with hugs. I couldn't control my tears as I said one last sentence to my juniors: "I love you, horns."

So..After an agonizing wait, TKBand finally started its show. 'Elisabeth' started and my heart started pumping rapidly, hoping that this would be a perfect runthrough. Azkhairy threw his mace up, and it was a perfect catch. I cheered, really loudly. Then, we reached the middle of the show, where the band sung 'Tegami ~Haikei Juugo No Kimi E~' My stomach started churning. The whole stadium was so quiet, and though it was supposed to be sounding at ease, I was secretly really tensed. A tear rolled down as I sang along. As went on to SF1, my heart pounded even harder and I was almost saying aloud, "Please everyone, please put on your feather socks!" Not everyone did, but well, it was definitely so much better than the week before. 'With Heart and Voice' came on, I swear it was exhilarating. Azkhairy's two maces thingy was simply amazing. With the final note of the whole show, with one last throw of the mace and with a perfect catch, the routine ended. The whole TK sector erupted in cheers and a standing ovation, while me and Zhining were crazily holding up the TKBand flag.

So that was the first band.

After six other bands, Deyi marched onto the performance area. And immediately the whole TK sector became silent. I really have nothing to say about their show. It was impressive, I must admit. And the drum major deserved his Best Drum Major award.

Then after a really restless wait, it was time for the results. As I held onto Vanessa and YanSiang hands, I was almost trembling, preparing myself for the worst.

"Tanjong Katong Secondary School. Gold."
Everyone was expecting two more words. Where were they? They never came.

I let go of both of their hands and just sat there. Not moving a muscle. Not a tear. The whole TK sector was silent. I clapped for Bowen and Deyi for their GWH awards.

After that, I tried to sneak in to the performance area to see my juniors but to no avail apparently. Went to fold the banner then.

Upon boarding the bus, I established eye contact with Wenhui (not intentionally) and then she cried even harder then I was like ._. shit. Anyway, went up the bus and stood at the empty seat next to Brian. Then suddenly he pulled me down on the seat and hugged me. I couldn't control my tears anymore then. They started streaming down my face like *@$%#.

Back at school, the bandmasters and alumni, including a parent, talked the band. Azlan, as usual, was the best speaker. He was just awesome and everyone just cheered for him like woohoo!

Anyway, TKBand, you definitely did a freaking awesome job and I'm so damn proud of every single one of you. None of you should be sad, and continue standing tall, cuz you know that you have done your best and you have no regrets. Be proud to say that you are a TKBand member.
I believe that we will rise again in 2012.
2010 was a year of change. Being able to learn and do the DCI style of marching in just those few months, you all are definitely a force to be reckoned with. This whole show was done in just 4 months.

TKBand, you played with your heart and soul. You marched with so much precision. You sang with your heart and voice.

I love you, TKBand.

Anoneh Pakuke!

Ohmyfreakinggod it is only 5 days more to SYF. And trust me, there ain't no anxiety like this.

Somehow it feels like deja vu, yet somehow it feels like we can do it, that is, if people get their mind straight and stop their childishness.

I still remember how it felt like when another band's name was being called for the coveted Best Display Band award. My heart sank so deep I felt like I could not pick it up again.

I don't want people to go through this again. But perhaps it'll be a good wake up call.
