Start It Again

5 hours after my graduation from Temasek Polytechnic, I'm sitting here in front of my laptop listening to epic film score music and trying to think of where to start this post.

Of course, the easiest way is to start from the beginning - way back to orientation. I stepped into the Convention Centre full of uncertainty and made my way to where the CMM students were supposed to assemble, and I was pleasantly surprised to see Shafiq sitting there! I guess I was really lucky to have a good start to my Poly life.

Year One was pretty much a great year where I got to know this bunch of people (Stef, Rach, Jean, Eudora, Brenda, Jon) who would be my pillar for the next couple of years to come - even though we went into different classes, the bond never seemed to break and instead we became even closer.

It wasn't till Year Two that I got to know more/get closer to the rest of the bunch (Mel, Yiyun, Deanna, Nava, Keith, SL) and even though we were still closer to certain people in the group, it didn't really matter since we clicked really well whenever the whole group was together. Around this period was also the year of eighteenth birthdays so planning for birthdays was really nerve-wrecking. I still remember how everyone was always so vexed over them to plan a perfect surprise for the birthday girl/boy - although we got kind of lazy after a while because honestly organising one almost every month was so tiring! Haha!

Year Three was definitely the most taxing one and meet-ups and gathering were significantly less apart from lazing around in school and going for dinners after lessons. It honestly didn't matter which elective we were in because we always ended up helping each other anyway.

Everything seems like it just happened yesterday and I am not really ready to let go of all these because I truly believe that these were, and will always be the best three years of my life. It was the period of time where I learnt the meaning of 'work hard, play hard', went through so many things that have inadvertently  made me stronger and more mature, and most of all, forged friendships with so many people. I was not paying attention to the speeches just now during the ceremony but I heard one sentence - 'the friends you have made here in Poly will be your closest friends...' - something along that line and I couldn't agree more with that.

Having been able to see everyone in school for one last time was a feeling that was... I don't know. I can't really put it in words. I guess I felt gratified, but at the same time, a little disappointed that all this was over. All the uncertainty about our own future is circling around. For me, uncertainty about our friendship is one of the things that bug me the most but deep down I believe that we can withstand the test of time.

So to all, who have been one way or another, involved in my life in Temasek Polytechnic, I thank you all so much - tutors, course mates, band mates, or even acquaintances I have made in my course of study here.

To end my post, here is possibly the most epic photo we have ever taken.

Twelve is the maximum they said. We showed 'em fourteen.

El Final.

Still Not A Real Update

Just dropping in to share a couple of songs that I have been listening to for the past few days.

First up, Infinite's 'The Chaser'

A very different sound from their past singles and it is exactly like what leader Sungkyu said about the song fusing traditional and modern music. Quite obviously the 'traditional' parts will be the chord progression which sounds like a Pentatonic scale and the 'modern' is unmistakably all the synths and digital drums. I am not really digging the song as much as 'Paradise' or 'Be Mine' or any of their past singles, in fact. But as a loyal Inspirit, I'm trying my best to like it and I suppose it will grow on me soon.

One song that has caught my attention has got to be Dalmatian's latest single, E.R.

Trust me, I did not fall in love with the song from the all the shirtless-ness in the MV as seen from the video still (I'm serious). There's something about songs with a piano intro leading to a constant bass beat accompanied by a sick rap that keeps me hooked without getting sick of them ever (think Big Bang's 'Lies' and 'Haru Haru', AA's 'So Crazy', BTOB's 'Insane'). On a side note though, what's up with the 'tattoo' concepts nowadays? Stef and I both agreed that it felt like we were watching a few Taeyangs from 'Fantastic Baby'.

Back to Dalmatian, I wouldn't call myself a Dalmate (their official fanclub name) yet but they are really growing on me and their music is really different from those of other boy groups. All the songs in their State of Emergency mini album sound really mature and they really pull it off well - which is not much of a wonder since their oldest member, Inati, is 31 years old which is considered really old for K-Pop standards. No wonder their fanbase is pretty small - I guess fangirls still prefer 18-year-old boys jumping around on stage doing aegyo.

Anyway I'm gonna stop here because I have already typed more than I intended to and I am exhausted from working on graduation gifts.

Goodnight! And the next time I'm back here, I will be an official diploma holder! ^^

Too Fast

Realised that Graduation is technically tomorrow. And I don't really know what to think or feel of it. Have had a lot on my mind recently ever since I came back from Seoul. Not that anything has happened - but the thought of some things happening upsets me a lot.

Been pouring out everything to Yiyun - I'm glad she's willing to hear me out and not find me an irritating bugger. Hahaha she's a kind monster.

A real update soon! Goodnight.

More Than This

On the 5th of May, I attended the first ever YouTube Stars concert in the world - The YouTube Stars Festival at the Coliseum thanks to Jonathan!

We reached at around 2pm (which is really late in my books) for the 7pm concert and we managed to beat the crowd to be one of the first few groups in the queue. Yay!

Lihua, Yizhun and Aaron joined us later then Jonathan and I went to walk around to listen to the soundcheck and we unintentionally came across the area where the artistes would walk past after their soundcheck so we waited there and we managed to get pictures with Joseph Vincent and David Choi!

Awkward picture is awkward lol.

So when we got into the venue we managed to be in the second row which was great!

While waiting for the concert to start!

I'm not gonna do a concert review because I'm kinda lazy so I'm just gonna post some pictures that I took during the concert.

The opening act: Tzire and SammyDee

Clarence Liew aka CLO! His voice is amazing!

Tiffany Alvord! She is as sweet as she looks really. :)

Joseph Vincent! He is a very good entertainer!

Jason Chen. He was kind of shy hahaha

Joint stage :)

Ana Free. She is one hot woman.

David Choi. A pity I didn't enjoy his set that much as he sang originals and I don't know his originals.

Encore!

It was a great concert - and we were assured that this would not be the last. I am really excited to see which artistes will come down next year!

In other news, Boys Like Girls performed a acoustic rendition of their upcoming single recently.

This brought me close to tears I'm not even kidding. Can they please come back now?

My flight to Korea is in about 4 hours. It is really exciting to be honest! And so before I leave Blogger for a good 8 days, I leave you with a cover I just did - U-Kiss' DoraDora.

Take care, everyone! :)

Infinitize: The Mission

Infinite is going to have their comeback soon and when they announced that they were planning to hold 5 showcases across Korea in 1 day I was...kind of shocked? Because honestly I don't really know if it is really necessary for that.

The crazy amount of planning that's gonna, or has been put into this... well I don't even wanna think about it. And I was looking through Woolliment's (Infinite's company) YouTube channel and I realised that their 1st Concert Teaser really suited this mission theme a lot.

I think the company is doing a really great job in promoting these boys though - it is like they just had this sudden growth in popularity, so much so that a comeback teaser released two months (TWO FREAKING MONTHS) before their comeback could create so much hype and excitement among Inspirits even up till now.

I really like the name of the new mini album - Infinitize! You know how K-Pop has so many ridiculous group names and album titles? I really think all of Infinite's albums and concert names are actually really cool. No biasness intended really!

Of course, with great popularity comes the question of over-working. I just hope that the boys get enough rest. But I am definitely excited for 15th May to see them pull off this mission thing (and partly because I may actually get the chance to see them when they go to their final destination - Seoul).

Till then, I'm gonna wait patiently for them to drop their single which they are going to release before the album, 'Only Tears'. That's three days away!

Going for The Youtube Stars concert with Jonathan tomorrow and I'm probably going to meet Lihua and gang there too! A long and fun day awaits! Goodnight!

Alive and Ready

Just woke up from my three-hour nap. I'm not one to take naps but this time you really can't blame me after my really long night where I only had two hours of sleep.

Went for TP Band's tune-in and it was pretty fun since what I basically did was slack with the other seniors/alumni. I spent half of the time dancing to 'Highlights from Grease' hahaha I love 'Summer Nights'! The only somewhat unpleasant thing about the night was when a freshie asked me if I was a freshie in a very condescending tone. Sheesh you just got off on the wrong foot with the ex-President!! But thanks for the compliment, I guess.

Oh! And I asked TP Band's conductor if I could join them for Singapore International Band Festival (SIBF) held in July and he readily agreed, even though there aren't enough instruments. I really loved how he said he'd settle the instruments and just invited all of us to play. Seriously, such a fatherly figure. :) Anyway, that's that, I've got something to look forward in July, I get to play my French horn with my awesome section, I'm a happy person!

Met up with my juniors after that to watch the not-so-exciting match between Manchester City and Manchester United. Wenhui met us for a little while at Bedok before we headed to a bar at Katong.

Glad to see you again after so long, Chia Wenhui! Even though it was just for a while.

Had a couple of drinks and some food at AdstraGold, the bar where we watched the match.

The Tequila Sunrise I ordered. Really sweet and refreshing, and not too strong - just the way I like it!

Vinnie's mojito. She only drank like 1/5th of it because she is such a lousy drinker and I helped her finish the drink. I fell in love with it instantaneously! I think mojitos are my favourite cocktail now! I think I should try some sojito in Seoul. (sojito: Korean mojito made with soju instead of the usual white rum)

Bratwurst Sausage. This was heavenly!

I was stoked for the match initially but it got pretty boring after a while. I don't need anymore reassurance on why I prefer Spanish football over English football. Hahaha.

After that, due to unforeseen circumstances, everyone ended up at my place for the rest of the night morning and I had to leave a note for my parents in case they woke up early only to find four extra pairs of shoes outside and four other people sprawled all around in my room. LOL.

At 7am I was on a Stickam chat with my @paulBLG and he answered two of my questions which were about tattoos and shoes. Hahaha.

Hehehe.

So after 2 measly hours of sleep I sent my juniors off after watching them eat roti prata and suffering from extreme hunger before going to Parkway Parade with my family to have brunch at Jack's Place. Bliss.

Chicken and steak combo. Because one slab of meat is not enough.

Went for a little shopping for stuff that I'm bringing to Seoul and dad kindly changed some SGD to KRW for me. Hahaha I'm a millionaire now! In terms of Won, of course.

Oh! And the Harry Potter exhibition is finally coming to Singapore and it is starting on 2nd June! I really can't wait to go for that - it's a huge part of my childhood after all! Details here.

And let me just end this post with this really addictive song from TaeTiSeo (I still hate the name), a sub-group from Girls' Generation, Twinkle!

Freaking gorgeous girls + catchy song + nice music video + powerful vocals + cameos from members of EXO-K = NOTHING HURTS!

Oh yeah, and happy May! :)
