Amazing f(x)

I've never been one for variety shows, but recently I've been hooked onto 'Amazing f(x)', where the girls go on a trip to New Zealand to do things that I really wanna do. Kinda like 'SHINee's Wonderful Day'. Except I prefer the latter since all five of them are together almost throughout, which I appreciate so much because their interaction makes me laugh, and they are totally variety show material. And I'm starting to ship Amber and Sulli sooo much it's not even funny.

(SPOILERS AHEAD)

Are we not going to talk about how Amber made a flower crown secretly for Sulli when the latter saw tourists wearing them and she wanted one? Or how Amber comforted her who was scared of birds and then proceeded to chase them away and said, "Sulli-ah, if you see anymore, tell me". Or how Sulli calls Amber 'hyung'? Do you hear me sobbing?!

Shit quality but FREAKIN' SULBER.

In order to finish as many of the things in their bucket list within their one week there, sometimes they split into two groups - so far it's Victoria, Krystal and Sulli in one group and Luna and Amber in the other. I freaking love both groups' interactions too - like how the maknaes are forever not finding Vic's jokes funny and just ignore her and how Amber takes care of Luna. When Luna was too scared to go onto the bungee jump (to overcome her fear of heights), Amber volunteered to jump first, even though she was scared too. WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME AMBER-SSHI?!

Perfect OTP: Amber and llama. I'm so done.

So TL;DR, I love Amazing f(x), I ship Amber with everyone, and Amber reminds me of me. No I'm serious.

She plays a guitar in Episode 5. THAT'S ANOTHER SIMILARITY RIGHT THERE.

Can't wait for English subs to come out. ;~; Ok bye will go drown in f(x) feels now.

No More Dream

This whole more-and-more-rookies phase just doesn't seem to die down, does it?

Not that I'm complaining though - more music, more eye-candy... But I was honestly disturbed when I read about how the youngest member of Pledis' new group, Seventeen, was 11 years old.

Ten years younger than me. No, just no. Sigh, or maybe I still can't really grasp the fact that I am becoming a noona fan. I don't wanna...

Anyways, almost half the year has passed, so I thought I'd write a piece about the rookie groups of this year but when I Googled 'K-pop rookies 2013', I see so many groups that I've never even heard of before. Uhm, nugu?? So I figured I'd just list a couple that I like.

PURE - I Still Love You

I don't know any of their names, nor do I know their ages. But I really really like the song! It reminds me of BTOB's 'Insane', which was a great debut song in my opinion too. I don't know, I guess you really can't go wrong with dance tracks with a piano intro. Also, coming from an entertainment company which is pretty much unknown, getting 1 million views on their music video is a great feat!

HISTORY - Dreamer

I was really awed by this song. It's so choir-ish and from the MV it looked like there was no one person who dominated the track. Turns out I was really wrong though. Maknae Yi Jeong is totally dominant here and poor Si Hyoung only gets the narration and nothing else. How sad is that really?? I was also a little disappointed when watching the performances because I was actually expecting them to harmonize like in the original song, but they used a backing track. Meh. Was I expecting too much of rookies? Hahaha well but I still really adore the song and I really want to see more from them.

BTS - No More Dream

This one definitely didn't disappoint though. What is the swaggerific awesomeness?! I really dig this. They're pretty much alike to Block B and B.A.P, so I hope that they can find their own style. That said, just like their album title, they really pull off the '2 cool 4 skool' vibe. Nice choreography too. Another type of debut that can't go wrong.
P.S. Rap Monster is still such a bad name though.

I'm sorry (not really) that there aren't any girl groups in here because obviously if you're not SPICA I won't care about you. Nah I kid but it's normal that guy groups attract me more right LOL.

In other news, I just got my Samsung S4 and I'm really stoked about it. But I can't use it yet because I've gotta cut the SIM card lol first world pains. Once it's up I might or might not go crazy on Vine. Hehehehe.

Also, the haze is killing me. Sobs.

XOXO

I wouldn't have a post title like that if there was nothing that warrants it. But EXO's album has been on replay for me these few days hahaha so there. Lemme talk briefly about a few K-pop songs/albums that really got me recently.

1. EXO's 'XOXO' album
It's amazing! I love it although there are a couple of tracks I don't exactly dig, but still, I wouldn't skip them if they come up on iTunes. This album was really worth the one year wait. I got my albums today and I'm so happy with them (hehe). However, to the girl who wanted to trade her Baekhyun photocard for 'any EXO-M members', but told me, "Baekhyun can trade for someone better" when I offered her either Chen or Tao, shit you. LOL. Anyways, check out the Dinoseoul team's thoughts on the album here. It's pretty objective I assure you!

2. Henry's 'Trap'
Ahhh this single is great! I understand Kyuhyun's participation in the track but Taemin seemed a little unnecessary though. But of course I'm not going to complain. Hahahaha! I'm so glad that one of my favourite members of Super Junior is finally getting the recognition he deserves! He is handsome, sings well, dances well, plays the piano and speaks English with a swoon-worthy accent. Okay I will stop here abruptly because I have a review of this song coming up on Dinoseoul.

3. SPICA. Everything of SPICA.
I just kept replaying their singles, especially 'Painkiller' after watching them live at Music Matters' K-pop Night Out. I totally got hooked (to their songs and... Jiwon. Ahem.) Seriously, check them out - even the rapper sings much better than many other so-called 'vocalists' in other groups. And uhm, here's my picture with them just because.

4. SKarf's 'Luv Virus'
Wasn't really feeling the song when I first heard it, but it started getting really catchy the next few listens. From their live performances, I really feel that Ferlyn has improved a lot and I'm really happy for her. Good to see them still going decent, and I'm excited what is going to come next!

Yup, that basically sums up my K-pop life recently. I'm not even getting used to work I'm so sad gonna have Monday blues. Goodnight!

The Liebster Award

Back with a proper post because Rachel nominated me for The Liebster Award (which I had no knowledge of till today) and I will do anything she says because she's awesome. So I uh, basically copied and pasted the rules from Rach's blog:

- List 11 random facts about yourself.
- Answer the questions designated by the blogger(s) who nominated you.
- Place YOUR nominations for the Liebster Award!
- Nominate five (or more) other bloggers that have less than 200 followers. Make sure to notify them via - comment/email, etc.
- Make up a set of questions for those nominated bloggers to answer.
- Display the Liebster award badge on your blog!

Aight, let's get this ball rollin'!

11 random facts about myself:

(I'm a pretty boring person and I've probably talked about most, if not all of these before, but do read on.)

1. Let's start with the obvious, shall we? I'm absolutely crazy about music and seriously it's a wonder that I didn't take any music-related courses. I would consider myself a jack of all trades, master of none. I guess it's because I know feel like I'll never make it in the music industry anyway, so I don't really bother upgrading my skills with regards to the instruments I know how to play already. It's kinda sad, yes, but I guess I do have one saving grace - I think I sing better than average and I really take pride in my YouTube channel. Not sure why I don't take the simple and conventional way of blasting the original song and just singing along to it using just a camera to record. I guess it's the passion. I really want my covers to be the best in quality as possible and I don't mind if I have to take a few days or work into the night to edit them or re-record parts that sound even slightly off. And ah, I especially love singing with Rachel because our voices blend really nicely together and I think we make a great duo because she makes up for my inability to reach high notes! :)

2. I am very OCD about neatness and cleanliness. I can't help but cringe when people do not wash their hands after touching food and they use their phones right after that, or even worse, touch my stuff. I might look indifferent but I am actually screaming in agony inside. The contents in my bag always have to be at the right places and compartments and I have a shitload of files to store all my documents. My computer and hard disk are filled with folders and sub-folders to categorize my stuff. Every single track in my iTunes have to have almost complete information (i.e. album, year, genre) and album art. I also have a scheduler that I depend heavily on. It consists of literally everything that I care about in my life - appointments, birthdays, album release dates, concerts, deadlines, you name it. It also has cute stickers and random (but neat) doodles inside. So if you're a messy person, I'm sorry but I don't think we can be roommates... It's for both of our own good, really.

3. I'm not particularly proud of my concert spendings, but I love going to gigs... and meeting artistes... and bringing home stuff from the gigs. /cough/

4. I majored in Broadcast in Poly, but I really like writing as well, though it's really hard for me to start. But most of the time, once I start, all the words just start flowing out. Writing for Dinoseoul has been a pleasure so far - what more the topic being something that I really like?

5. I like dancing too - especially to R&B songs. Love the slick moves. But I have no confidence in that field because my friends around me dance so much better. Haha uh well. : |

6. Food is my life. I'm also known as chicken monster by some of my friends and I gladly accept it. Seriously, I don't know how I can eat so much. I think the only reason why I'm not overweight yet is because I don't snack. Hahaha. But I'm also very picky with my food - I don't eat raw food (i.e. salad and sashimi), meat that's too fatty, the yolk in sunny side-ups, internal organs, anything that's too milky... and I hate Parmesan cheese. Bleargh.

7. I read fanfics. I especially love the Taemich ones that Keith writes. It has been stuck at Chapter 4 and currently Taemin and I have been singing 'Thunder' together at his balcony for almost a year now but I wouldn't have it any other way. (But seriously Keith... more please.)

8. Friends mean the world to me but I'm very selective at the same time because I've had a couple of bad experiences which led to me having trust issues. So if I do confide in you, you must be one heck of a special person.

9. I'm a very sentimental person. I prefer receiving personalized gifts than expensive ones (of course unless you're willing to build a home recording studio for me hahaha). All my letters are kept nicely and categorized neatly according to my different groups of friends.

10. I used to have abs but Poly took them all away... or rather they got covered. LOL.

11. Sometimes when I listen to sad songs I pretend that I'm in a music video and create scenarios in my head and act all emotional and I end up crying. Ahhh this is so embarrassing. OK MOVING ON.

Here are Rach's questions:

1. What is one extreme thing you’d like to do, but don’t have the guts to?
I've always wanted to perform on a huge huge stage but that's because I never got a chance. So I think I'll go with skydiving. As I get older, I get more and more timid and that sucks so I wanna do something that makes me feel like I can conquer anything else after completing it. That's extreme enough... right?

2. What was your last indulgent purchase?
Sadly everything slightly costly (even food) that I spend on now can be considered an indulgent purchase because I am so, so broke. But recently I paid 6 bucks for a glass of coke at the Beer Market because I wanted to watch the Australian bands perform there during Music Matters. Rawr. Not cool.

3. Name five items currently in your bag that you can’t leave your house without.
There're more than five because of my inner auntie but wallet, earpieces, comb, portable charger, scheduler (my phone and iTouch are not counted because they're in my pockets most of the time).

4. What’s your most played song on iTunes, ever?
Currently it's C-Clown's 'Shaking Heart' at 167 plays (What?! It came out barely two months ago!!). But that's an unfair result because my iTunes has reformatted on me four times this year already. According to my previous iTunes plays it'd probably be Boys Like Girls' 'Thunder' or Faber Drive's 'When I'm With You', my two ultimate favourite songs. Yup, I love K-pop but I'm still loyal to my pop punk roots.

5. How would you describe your style, and who are your current fashion influences?
I'm no fashionista, that's for sure. But I'd say preppy - y'all should see my ever-growing collection of bright coloured berms and jeans. I don't have any fashion influences... or to put it in a corny way, I define my own fashion! Hahaha!

Okay so I don't have another nomination because everyone that I know who blogs has already been nominated by Rachel. If this was 2005 I'd have been spoilt for choice. So uhm, no nominations, no questions. Okay? Okay.

To those who are doing this, have fun! :)
